Ft. Lauderdale: Sunshine Cathedral: Light University Presents
The Future of Peace in the Middle East
Free Lecture Series - Israelis, Palestinians and Terrorism: Armageddon or Armistic
Light University, the religious education ministry of the Sunshine Cathedral, is proud to present this free lecture series in an attempt to help build bridges within our community through sharing, listen and learning about various perspectives on the war in the Middle East. Some of the questions that will be addressed are: Is the turmoil between Israel and its Arab neighbors 60 years old, or is this a problem of biblical origin?; Has there ever been a period of peace between Moslems and Jews?; Is there a difference between "terrorism", "armed resistance", or "military reprisals" that describe responses used by each side in this conflict?; How far should each side go in the form of compromise in the name of peace?; What are the minimum demands each side requires before being willing to accept peace with the opposing side?; Is it anti-Semitic to say the Jewish Lobby in Washington dictates Mideast policy? and much more. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about events happening internationally that affects us locally.
You don't want to miss this opportunity.

South Florida will lose more jobs this year than any American metropolitan area except New York and Los Angeles, according to a study released this weekend by the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties will lose a total of 84,800 jobs by the end of 2009, according to the study, which was conducted by the consulting firm Global Insight. That would be a 3.6 percent drop from the end of 2008.
