Richmond Becomes First Openly Transgender Person to Win Tennessee ElectionMarisa Richmond has become Tennessee's first openly transgender person towin an election in the history of the State of Tennessee. Richmond won 99.7%of the vote in the Feb. 5 election to become the Davidson County DemocraticCommitteewoman to represent District 23. Richmond received more than 1,800votes, while a write-in candidate received six votes.

The scandal that almost ended the career of Sir John Gielgud is to bebrought to the London stage this month in a new play about the actor. In theautumn of 1953 the newly knighted actor was at the height of his fame andabout to direct himself in a prestigious West End production when he wasarrested in a public lavatory in Chelsea.
