-Dem. veep Joe Biden hits town Tuesday
Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, plans a Florida campaign swing this week that will bring him to Broward County. Leaders of the Deerfield Beach Democratic Club got word over the weekend that the U.S. senator from Delaware will be there. The plan is for a rally at the main clubhouse at Century Village at noon Tuesday. Tickets, they've been told, will likely be distributed via the internet. That's the favored method of the Obama campaign, which uses Internet sign-ups as a way to build its database of e-mail addresses for campaign updates and fundraising pitches.

-Florida back in Hanna's cone
Florida may have a brush with Tropical Storm Hanna later this week. At 8 a.m. Monday Hanna was located about 90 miles north-northeast of the southeastern Bahamas and is drifting slowly westward near 2 mph. The center of Hanna will move near the southeastern Bahamas during the next day or two. "Given the high spread among the various models...there is considerable uncertainty regarding Hanna's eventual track and intensity," hurricane specialist Jamie Rhome wrote in an advisory Sunday
