A gay couple filed a lawsuit on Monday against the University of Hawaiibecause they claimed they are not being allowed to live in married housingon campus. A national gay rights legal organization is helping the twostudents take on UH. Joseph O'Leary and Phi Ngo have lived together as acouple since 2004. There has been no legal ceremony, but they considerthemselves a family. Last year, they lived in family housing at the UH Manoacampus. This year, the school denied them because the university told themHawaii law does not recognize same-sex marriage.

Members of Fort Worth's Broadway Baptist Church voted Sunday to keep theirpastor, the latest development in months of public controversy. The vote was499 for retaining Brett Younger and 237 against, giving the pastor atwo-thirds majority. The historic downtown church is known as theologicallyand socially moderate by Baptist standards. But members were sharply dividedlast fall over whether gay couples should be pictured in the church's 125thanniversary photo directory.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is considering a 2010 run for governor - acampaign that would embrace many of the same divisive causes he haschampioned as mayor, including same-sex marriage, universal health care andprotections for illegal immigrants, The Chronicle has learned. Newsom haslong been rumored to be a potential contender in what is likely to be acrowded field of Democrats looking to succeed Republican Gov. ArnoldSchwarzenegger, a list that includes Attorney General and former Gov. JerryBrown, former state Controller Steve Westly and Los Angeles Mayor AntonioVillaraigosa.

Pro-gay, socialist Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero haswon re-election this evening as voters ignored worries about the economy andthe Basque militants. Although with 92 per cent of the votes counted, theSocialist party will not have an absoloute majority, it is understood hewill form an alliance with smaller parties in order to govern the country.

I am not gay says Welsh Olympian
Former Olympic athlete Colin Jackson has denied he is gay, but said he doesnot mind what people say about him. Jackson, 41, told The Voice newspaperthat persistent rumours about his sexuality are "strange and bizarre." Theformer hurdler appeared on BBC show Strictly Come Dancing in 2005 and 2006.
He has just released a book, Life's New Hurdles. He won a silver medal inthe 100m Hurdles at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Jaason Simmons, known to millions across the world as hunky lifeguard LoganFowler in beach soap opera Baywatch, has come out to an Australianmagazine.The 37-year-old actor plans to marry his partner, Irish actor JohnO'Callaghan. Oklahoma state politician Sally Kern is under fire after an audio recordingwas leaked of her comparing gays to terrorists and telling fellowRepublicans the "homosexual agenda is destroying this nation." Illinois Senator Barack Obama yesterday firmly rejected the idea he would bewilling to sign on as Vice President for Hillary Clinton. Obama's responsecomes after hints from Clinton that she would be willing to consider sharinga ticket with him in the November election. The controversial fundamentalist Christian Stephen Green has compared Stepssinger H to mass murderer Jeffrey Dahmer. Green, who is notorious for hisprotests at gay Pride events, was taking part in BBC Wales current affairsprogramme, Week In, Week Out. While being interviewed by H, also known asIan Watkins, Green called him vile and said he would pray for him.

One of the UK's leading gay charities will be supplying free lube and asafer sex leaflet to women in Manchester. The Lesbian and Gay Foundation(LGF) has also launched Beating About The Bush, a 32-page sex guide andlesbian and bisexual women's safer sex leaflet. LGF is a health-basedcommunity charity based in Manchester working to "end homophobia and empowerpeople."

New London route for 10K Crusaid walk
Crusaid's Walk for Life has announced a new and improved route for thisyears event. The sponsored walk, which last year raised £375,000, supportspoor and marginalised people affected by HIV and AIDS in the UK and Africa.
Europe's largest fundraising walk for HIV kicks off at the Event Village,based at Potters Fields Park, on the 1st June. The new 10 kilometre routewill snake through London.

High number of Irish same-sex couples living in US
New research into US Census Bureau data has revealed that 1,200 Irish-borngay men and lesbians are living with a same-sex partner in America. TheWilliams Institute on Sexual Orientation Law and Public Policy also foundthat two-thirds of Irish-born same-sex partners are women and 15% areraising children. The Irish government is expected to bring forwardproposals for a form of civil partnerships at the end of this month. Theyhave been legal in Northern Ireland since 2005.

New York Democratic Governor Eliot Spitzer has been tied to a prostitutionring after a federal investigation revealed he was recorded on a wiretaparranging to meet with a prostitute. Identified as Client 9 at the EmperorsClub VIP escort service, Spitzer was recorded confirming plans to fly aprostitute from New York to Washington to meet him at a hotel. According tothe New York Times, court documents stated Client 9 arranged to meet with anEmperors Club VIP prostitute on February 13th in Washington DC.

Green candidate will attend Stonewall hustings
Sian Berry has been confirmed as the fourth candidate for Mayor of Londonappearing at a hustings event organised by gay equality organisationStonewall. The Green candidate will appear alongside incumbent Mayor KenLivingstone, Tory candidate Boris Johnson and Lib Dem's Brian Paddick at theevent at BFI Southbank on Saturday 19th April. The Stonewall hustings willbe the last before Londoners go to the polls on May 1st. Ms Berry, 33, isthe youngest candidate in the race.

Obama wins Wyoming as talk of a 'Dream Team' intensifies
Barack Obama's campaign to win the Democratic nomination for President ofthe United States was given another boost when he won another state over theweekend. Admittedly Wyoming is the least populous state in the union, buthis comfortable margin of victory, 61% to 38%, has heartened his supportersafter his rival Senator Hillary Clinton won three key states last week.
Senator Obama took seven of the twelve delegates Wyoming sends to theDemocratic party nominating convention in August.

Thatcher may be invited to civil partnership
Former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's closeness to Tory Shadow Cabinetmember Alan Duncan has led to speculation she will be invited to celebratehis civil partnership later this year.The Sunday Times reports that up to300 people may attend the ceremony. Last week Mr Duncan became the firstConservative MP to announce his intention to enter into a civil partnership.
He refused to comment on whether or not Lady Thatcher, who was PrimeMinister from 1979 to 1990, will be invited.
